What?
The 2027 ERC Consolidator Grant call, with a submission deadline of 12 January 2027, provides funding for researchers consolidating their independent research careers and developing their own research teams.
ERC Consolidator Grants support ambitious, high-risk/high-gain research projects across all scientific disciplines. Applications are evaluated solely on the criterion of scientific excellence, considering both the research project and the Principal Investigator.
Key features of the call:
-
Eligibility: Researchers of any nationality who obtained their first PhD between 5 and 15 years before 1 January 2027 (specifically, between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2021 (inclusive)). Extensions of this eligibility window may be granted under specific conditions, as outlined in the ERC Work Programme 2027.
-
Funding: Up to €2 million for a maximum duration of five years, with up to €1 million in additional funding available to cover further eligible project costs, provided these are necessary for the proposed research and duly justified. Researchers relocating from outside the EU or Associated Countries may request up to €2 million in additional funding.
-
Research scope: All scientific disciplines are eligible, with no predefined thematic priorities.
-
Host institution: The project must be carried out at an eligible host institution in an EU Member State or Associated Country.
Detailed information on the call, eligibility requirements, and application procedure is available on the
official ERC Consolidator Grant website.
